![]() ![]() ![]() But again Big Bus did deliver plenty of bars along 3rd Ave for our viewing enjoyment. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Flatiron building, New York Life building, Metropolitan Life building, and all the brightly lit store fronts along 5th. He also occasionally referenced the numerous sites along 5th Avenue (on the normal tour) we could possibly catch a glimpse of if we quickly peered down 2 long blocks in the concrete canyons of New York as we passed the cross streets at 25 mph. Our tour guide had nothing to offer in terms of narrative except to point out the "many bars that cater to the young crowd in this area - any questions?" and comment on how he didn't know much about this area. ![]() We then spent the next 30 minutes cruising down a street that has ZERO significant land marks along the way. We were told of this route change as we were approaching 5th Avenue at least 15 minutes into the tour (the explanation was construction along 5th Ave - which I had been walking earlier in the day and saw no significant traffic issues). First Big Bus changed our route without informing us ahead of time and took us down 3rd Avenue instead 5th Avenue. I thought the tours would be pretty much the same, I WAS WRONG! Big Bus was FAR inferior (and definitely NOT worth the $5 savings over GrayLine). I have taken both the GrayLine and Big Bus night tours of Manhattan. ![]()
